WHAT WILL BE EXPECTED OF ME?
After filling out the informed consent form, you will be randomly placed in one of three groups. The first group (Test group) is able to use chatbot Tess from October 21 toDecember 14. The second group (Waitlist control group) will also participate in the chatbot pilot, but will not yet be able to try out Tess from October 21-December 14. Both groups (Test group and Waitlist control group) will be able to use Tess after the chatbot pilot. You can also join the chatbot test without participating in the study. If so, you will be placed in group 3, and you are able to use the chatbot from October 21, 2019 untilAugust 2020. At the end of the pilot you will receive the same questionnaire as you have filled out just now, before registering in the chatbot pilot, via email from RSM (filling out takes 15-20 minutes of your time). Finally, to see whether using chatbot Tess has an effect on your study success, the researchers at RSM will collect your number of EC as well as your (partial) grades from SIN-online and OSIRIS. At any moment, the researchers are able to stop the pilot or to remove participants. You yourself are also able to quit participation in the chatbot pilot, at any moment.
HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT TAKE?
If you register for participation and sign informed consent, the chatbot will ask you to fill out a short task diary in week 43 (October 21), week 44 (October 28), and in week 46(November 11). Filling out a task diary will take 10 minutes of your time. In the weeks47 to 51, Tess will pro-actively to check how you are doing in general – and with respect to your tasks. These check ins from Tess will take a few minutes of your time. Thus, the chatbot pilot will take 40 minutes of your time. During your contact moments with Tess, you will also be asked to what extent you assess Tess to be valuable, and user-friendly.After the pilot, you will still gain access to Tess. You will neither receive task diaries anymore, nor will you receive questionnaires, but you will be able to contact Tess, andTess will seek contact with you.
